Several times a month, Ron and I follow our favourite cover band, The Bandits, to various venues in Sydney. We love to hear their wonderful renditions of many of the greatest hits of the sixties, seventies and eighties; tunes made famous by both top Australian and overseas artists.
Sometimes, the band leader, Paul, encourages the audience to sing along; though many, both on the dance floor and in the background, need no encouragement, at least to mime.
Music can weave a special magic. What else can create such dramatic shifts in mood?
Whether you’re there to dance or just to listen, it’s easy to get transported to another time, another place: back to one’s younger days!
It’s great to have a band like this you can follow. They must be a talented bunch if they can cover 3 decades of music. I’m glad you like stuff from the 60’s when you weren’t even around . How about a small run down of what songs they play from when and see if any of us recognise them, like them or if they evoke special memories for us. I can tell you now if they do anything by the Mamas and Papas they have my full attention.

Love your comments!!!
Let me think….they sing ‘Rockin’ All Over the World’, ‘Dance the Night Away’, ‘All My Lovin’, ‘Love Grows Where my Rosemary Goes’, ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘There’s a Kind of a Hush’, ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Venus’, ‘La Bamba’, ‘Little Egypt’, ‘Satisfaction’, ‘ Kathy’s Clown’,and the best version of ‘Rain’ I’ve ever heard. Lots more, too! Sorry: nothing from the Mamas and the Papas, but they’re all guys….
