The Show Must Go On…

The show must go on…

Despite intermittent rain, unseasonable cold, and biting wind, today’s Swimming Club races went ahead.

Three determined women (including yours truly) and ten equally determined men all braved the conditions.

Our program of two sprints  and a distance event all proceeded smoothly, and despite what nature had thrown at us, we seemed to have a pretty good time.

My husband Ron kept the time in Lane One, with our little Maltese Chicki at his feet.

Better than spending the afternoon watching the box…

Despite the rain, Chicki stays snug

He certainly looks like he’s had a wonderful swim. Wet or dry he’d have to win a lot of hearts.

Chicki’s a sweetie! (She’s a girl!!) And so far she hasn’t tried swimming, though she’s getting better at taking a warm bath…

She is lovely. Did she just get wet in the rain?

Yes! I wonder if one can get hooded doggy raincoats…

Margaret, I agree almost anything is better than staying at home watching the box but I’m not sure what you’ve described counts as pleasure. I’d rather have the TV than that. How did you do in the races? Well I hope. In answer to your last question, there are tons of hooded raincoats available.

Hi, David! Thanks for your good wishes. I actually had the most successful day (in fact the only successful day) I’ve had this season, with two wins, one second and one third in the handicaps. The men and the women compete together in the sprints, but the low attendance certainly helped in the distance race (of over three hundred metres.)
The water was warm enough, anyway. 🙂
Thanks for the link! I hope that they will ship to Australia! (Saw some nice ones, and they’re quite low priced!)
