It seems quite a while, several months at least, since the first of the Flannel Flowers revealed its simple yet glorious petals in the local park.
While many plants have given up for the season, a few have found new life and kept on blooming.
Since they rank very highly on my list of favourite Australian wildflowers, this is a delightful bonus.
Enjoy!

In their simplicity aren’t they just beautiful? It’s been years since I’ve seen them growing wild out in the sandstone country behind Newcastle and Sydney. What a delight to be reminded of them.
They are such a lovely flower! I’m so pleased you enjoyed this post. 🙂
Not seen those before. Thy’re really very pretty.

They aren’t common where I live: they only like the bushland, and even there they’re fairly sparse. Glad you like them!

Ah the old flannel flower. What suburb do you live in Margaret? The last time I saw them growing wild was either in the bush at Kuringai or as a child living at Coolangatta Avenue, Elanora Heights.
I live near the Georges River, and they are growing in the bush quite near it. Some are actually within a few metres of the river bank. 🙂
So you have a lot of bushland near you?
We have a fairly large area, a park, in addition to the bushland along the foreshores. How about you?
I don’t have much bush around me but I live right near Lake Macquarie which is wonderful.
bright and nice 🙂
Wishing you a fabulous 2014 🙂
Thanks, Joshi! 🙂
Happy New Year!
