Nesting Rainbow Lorikeets

Nesting Rainbow Lorikeets

One of my favourite sights is wild Australian parrots. Every kind is unique and lovely to look at, from the small budgerigars through to the majestic Sulphur-crested Cockatoos.

Recently in the local park I spotted a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets tending to nesting duties. Naturally I grabbed my camera and started shooting.

Here is one of the results.

Nice shot! 🙂 Do they always nest inside limbs like that?

      Thanks! 🙂
Yes, they lay their eggs on decayed wood, usually inside Gum trees. Sometimes they seem to be in competition with the Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, who expend a massive effort, hollowing out.
