Watching the world go by

Watching the world go by…

It seems to be a favourite activity of Kookaburras. I often see them perched in trees, or even on railings, just looking, observing, taking stock…

Such wise and amazing birds!

Has this one just served in the Army, it seems to have a crewcut? It’s been a while since you’ve done a Kookaburra Margaret, they’re really nice looking birds.

Yes, you’re right as usual, David. πŸ™‚
The Kookaburras aren’t in the least camera-shy! Doubtless I’ll put up another post about them in the not too distant future.

Quite different. Do they really laugh? And only perch in Gum trees?

Yes, they have a loud, long, laughing call, quite unlike the sound of any other bird that I’ve ever heard.
And no, they perch in quite diverse places. I often see them on metal railings and on top of water bubblers. Sure they like trees, though. πŸ™‚
