Windy Day: A Heron Carries On

Windy Day: A Heron Carries On

So often when I see the White-faced Herons in the local river baths, the weather is calm. Often their reflections are mirror-like.

But not on this day. No. The wind had picked up, bringing the waves along with it.

But this hungry White-faced Heron remained undeterred. Maybe he relishes a challenge.

What a pointed beak he has! I guess his preyΒ  doesn’t stand a chance.

I like how the white around his eye matches the light patch in the water above him.

He’s very regal looking though.Certainly not ready to accept the weather could better him.

I don’t know the white-faced heron. He’s gorgeous. And brave. πŸ™‚ I like the shot with the waves. They are never photographed in the waves, I think. At least, I never saw them in moving water.

Probably not. They are quite picturesque in still water and I suppose that is how most photographer capture their image. πŸ™‚

Such a graceful and lovely bird but I guess when it come to eating they can get the job done with that beak.

πŸ™‚ We watched one today, making short work of some little fish in a school. Most efficient. But still a very beautiful species…
