Noisy Miner

Here I am!

The piercing gaze of this Noisy Miner arrests us.

Cute though they may appear, these birds are quite aggressive and highly territorial. At home I see them almost every morning, dive-bombing the cage of our pet Budgerigars Albert and Victoria.

This is a photo of one that inhabits the local park.

Blimey, what a guard dog. I can see him saying “None shall pass”.

They are very tough little birds, and they seem to resent the presence of our budgies, even in their cage. It’s a big, flight cage, and Albert and Victoria have plenty of space to get away from the Miners, otherwise I think that our pets would be pecked.

Much more attractive than the species that give me grief here, the crows. They make so much noise and there are so many of them.

The noisy miners were trying to chase away a pair of king parrots in our back yard trees this morning. The parrots left when they wanted to though – not being bullied!
