Golden Wattle

5 Aug

Right now, some of  the Golden Wattles are starting to fade..

Interestingly, Wattle has a wide variety of species, and overall a long flowering season.

Enjoy!

Thank you. I didn’t know what this lovely flowering plant was called!

It’s quite striking standing out as it does from the green bushes around it. If there are other species are there other colours too?

Not really other colours, David. Different shades of yellow, though. And the leaves are strikingly different in shape and colour. Some are greyish, others green.

That’s a gorgeous photo. Can’t even remember if I ever saw it in Aus though 😦

There are quite a few of these beauties in our local bushland park in suburban Sydney, and today we saw many out in bloom on the way to the Southern Highlands of N.S.W.. Chances are if you were here in July or August and visited the bush, you would have seen the Golden Wattle. 🙂

Well I got married in August in Sydney and we did go to the local national parks. But I mainly remember striking red flowers.

Wondering if the red flowers were Waratahs. They usually flower in September and October, though. There aren’t any in our local park, unfortunately.
