Spring, and a Young Bird’s Fancy…

10 Sep

Here we are in early Spring, and the birds are making preparations. Prime home sites are in high demand. Sometimes, the Sulphur-crested Cockatoos take possession and start the process, only to find that smaller parrots are looking on with an eye to taking over.

Not so these Rainbow Lorikeets. This pair have found their own niche and are absorbed in making it feel like home… waiting, I suppose, for the sound of little cheeps. They don’t seem to mind the effort of raising their own little family.

Enjoy this little scene in the bush around Sydney, Australia.

Such beautiful birds. I think I’d sit outside all day watching them.

They are very lovely, David. They like to be fed by humans, so sometimes one can see quite a flock on the ground.

Well captured, Margaret. 🙂 I love watching our lorikeets, but I haven’t found where they are nesting in our trees yet.

They are beautiful parrots, Linda:) it’s not hard to find some of their nesting sites in the park where I live.
