Bottlebrush

What a great time of year it is for flowers! Here in Australia, both natives and exotics are giving us a lovely display.

This is  one of my favourite natives: Bottlebrush. There are quite hardy, and often used as street trees in Sydney.

I love walking and taking photos of the countryside and old buildings and villages. These remind me of a cottage garden. 🙂

So do I, Jane. I rarely go anywhere without my camera around my neck 🙂 The Bottlebrushes are very pretty, and fit into a variety of garden styles.

We have 4 very large and 2 smaller bottlebrush trees. The bigger ones are full of buds that are just beginning to open. We get so many birds in the trees, one of which is right beside our verandah, and another is right outside our bedroom window. Rainbow lorikeets and noisy miners are the main visitors.

We have four small ones in our yard. and there are several large street specimens nearby. I see the birds visiting quite often, too. Delightful 🙂

And most importantly the lorikeets love them 🙂

And very handy if you have a bottle that needs cleaning.

Wow, I love your photo, I have never seen a bottlebrush, do they come in other colors too?

    • Margaret Lynette Sharp October 5, 2014 at 5:42 am #

Yes, they come in pink, a purple/red shade , true red and more. The reds are the most common. I’m glad you loved the photo. 🙂
