Focus on Birds: Crimson Rosella

22 Oct

Crimson Rosellas are one of the most attractive of the local parrots. I see them often in the local park, and sometimes even in our front garden. Their colours are striking and rich.

Here is a photo taken in the local bushland.

Enjoy!

They’re quite stunning Margaret. Are they good mimics like other parrots?

I’m not sure, David. I see them quite a lot, but I don’t know if they are mimics.

They are beautiful, aren’t they! I grew up with them around, but where we live now at Lake Macquarie, there are only the Eastern Rosellas – not so much red, but still very striking and beautiful – and shy.

I’d like to see Eastern Rosellas. According to the information in a brochure about local birds. these are also around. But the Crimson Rosellas are gorgeous!
