Focus on Birds: Galahs

20 Nov

Some say that their feathers lack the brilliance of some types of parrots, bur I still believe that they are exceptionally pretty birds.

Their pink and grey plumage is perfectly set off by the green, green grass.

This photograph was taken near where Ron and I live. in suburban Sydney, N.S.W., Australia.

They are so beautiful! Look like parrots…

They remind me of rosy cheeked little farmers for some reason. Quite pretty but not in the same class as some of your birds. The name though, it sounds like one of those throw away words of contempt or the name you’d call a miscreant “You galah you”.

People keep Galahs as pets. They are great talkers, and can learn tricks. But I’d rather see them in the wild.

I LOVED seeing the Galahs when I was in Australia! I think everyone got tired of me commenting every time we saw them. Or any other parrots, for that matter.
