West Australian Red- flowering  Gum

Here in Sydney, some varieties of the magnificent West Australian Red-flowering Gum are still in bloom. Lately, I’ve seen several beautiful pink and rose-coloured varieties displaying their lovely flowers.

This particular one, however, has sadly had its day. I’m looking forward to early Summer this year so that, once again, we can all witness its glory. And don’t the Rainbow Lorikeets love them…

Three Reviews in a Row!

25 Jan

Very rarely do I get three positive reviews in a row within a couple of days. So when this happens, it calls for a celebration!

First, let me thank most sincerely the wonderful Canadian writer Carol Balawyder for her five star review of ‘Love, Desire and Betrayal’.

Next came the very positive, four star review by Tony Parsons of ‘Of Love and Secrets’

And just an hour two ago I discovered another lovely 4 star review of this my 2015 release, this time by talented Australian book reviewer Scatterbooker (Jade).

Believe me, I’m smiling!

A big ‘Thank You’ to these readers and reviewers!!

Australian Beauty: Rainbow Lorikeets

Rainbow Lorikeet

When it comes to stunning beauty of feathers, it’s hard to beat those of  the Rainbow Lorikeets. These parrots are pretty common in the local park and often venture into nearby gardens, especially those with natives such as Grevilleas and Flowering Gums in bloom.

Now and again I see Plovers on the shore of the local swimming baths.

More formally known as Masked Lapwings, these are quite handsome birds. It’s a treat to see them against the backdrop of the river.

Chicki in the Bush

I wonder what Chicki is looking at?

It could be anything: sulphur-crested cockatoos, magpies, ducks. The list goes on…

Nevertheless, here she is on a ledge in the local bushland park, looking a picture of innocent interest. 🙂

I’m sure that her daily visits to the park are the highlight of her life.

Shadows

The effect of light and shade can be quite magical.

This photograph was taken one afternoon, just as the sun was at the right angle to cast these beautiful shadows of leaves onto the bark.

Reflections of a White-faced Heron

Reflections of a White-faced Heron

Reflections of a White-faced Heron

Sometimes the river is so calm that it’s mirror-like. That’s when I love to take photos of the beautiful birds that call this place ‘home’.

My offering for today is a White-faced Heron: a tall, elegant creature that struts it stuff at low tide.

Enjoy!
