It’s not uncommon to discover Australia’s Laughing Kookaburras looking for whatever they can find that picnickers have left behind – or even for these bold birds to snatch a piece of someone’s lunch.
But recently I saw one, that was about to fly off with a piece of orange rind in its beak. Maybe it was health-conscious… How much better was this than, say, half a burned sausage?

Lovely picture, as always ♪ This little cutie reminds me of our magpies, always looking for something to nibble on !
🙂 I wonder how your magpies differ from ours… I’ll look for a photo for another post…
Oh please do, I’d love to see them through your lens. 🙂 Our magpies are very pretty, black & white with bluish wingtips and long dark blue tails and their young are super cute with their pinkish feathers. Australian Kookaburras are actually more like our Jays in appearance.
I like it very much. I did´nt know it.
It’s a unique bird!
