A Couple of Announcements

16 Mar

To all my loyal blog readers…

I’ve been writing eBooks (and tree books) now for six and a half years. It’s been a journey of hopes fulfilled, and hopes dashed. I’ve known both brickbats and bouquets from reviewers. I’ve known the joy of a writing a best seller – ‘Longbourn Revisited’.  I’ve known the sadness of publishing more than one title that’s been loved by most reviewers, yet overlooked almost entirely by the book-buying public. ‘Uncertain Love’ and ‘Charlotte’s Lance and the Round Fable’ spring to mind in the latter category.

Enough of that.

The time has come for me to have a break – perhaps forever – from writing. It’s so long since I touched the piano that I’ve all but forgotten how to play. Ditto for painting in watercolours – something I used to love.

So, what’s left?

I have twenty-five titles out there, all available on Amazon. Within hours, both ‘Romance, 50’s Style’ and ‘More Romance, 50’s Style’ will be US99c and US99p Countdown deals. For those who enjoy clean, nostalgic romances, these are well worth a look, especially at this price.

Here are the links.

Enjoy!

‘Extremely unique’ is how author and reviewer J. Kahele has described my eleventh title.

My sincere thanks go out to her for this delightful review that she has posted onto Goodreads.

I Really *Am* an Author…

8 Sep

I started writing my first book, ’25 Stories of Life and Love in Australia’, four years ago, next month. Naively, I thought it would be a one-off. 🙂

Eleven titles later, it’s still a nice feeling to be *reminded*, to have *concrete evidence*, that I *am* an author.

So, how proud I was when I visited Kogarah Library some months ago, to find my books on their shelves.

There, I knew it! I  really *am* an author. 🙂

Guess who?

Guess who?

Boomer Lit: ‘Encore’!

25 Jul

Hello and thanks to those who have visited my blog!

For the moment, this is my final chance to give you a taste of my fiction writing, so I ‘ve decided to select one of the particular favourite vignettes of Goodreads reviewer Mark.

This sample is from my seventh title, ‘ENCORE’.

DEAR DAVID

Dear David,

I don’t think I could have believed it’s really you, if Gina hadn’t sworn she saw my photo on your hall table. Certainly, the snapshot she took last Sunday tugs ta my far-away memories; the blueness of your eyes I can never forget.

She tells me that the country life has kept you young; judging by your image, you certainly haven’t gone to seed, as have many of our peers!

So much water has passed under the bridge that I’m almost afraid to accept your invitation. In truth, I don’t know if I’m ready yet to let go of the past; and by that, as you’ve probably guessed, I mean the memory of Lloyd. He was, after all, my husband for thirty-one years.

I hope my decision doesn’t bring too much pain or disappointment to you. I know what it’s like to be left alone; and, dear David, I regret to hear that you’re even more alone than me. Gina  is a great comfort; a wonderful daughter; and Tom, her husband, is as close to me as my own flesh and blood.

*                    *                    *                    *                    *                    *                    *                    *

Are you enjoying this?

Then please consider adding this title to your collection. With a five star review from Goodreads member Mark, and a four star one from Brenda, surely it has something going for it!

Long and Short Australian Stories: on Amazon Kindle Best Seller List

9 Oct

It’s a toss up in my mind: whether my personal favourite literary effort of mine is ‘A Taste of Life and Love in Australia’ or ‘Long and Short Australian Stories’.

Currently, the latter is outstripping the former in the Amazon ranking, yet, by virtue of its review numbers and verdicts, ‘A Taste…’ wins, hands down.

My husband and editor Ronald Sharp B.E.M. (my editor) is well known for his musicality, as evidenced by his creation of the Grand Organ in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, the musically exalted organ at Knox Grammar, and others. He seems to like both volumes immensely, and I often catch him reading (and obviously being enthralled by) their vignettes and Short Stories.

Do you like romantic tales? Human interest stories? Easy to read literature? Why not check out ‘Long and Short Australian Stories’, at least? If you like the sample pages, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are already four other collections published, and available through Amazon.
