As I was standing there, slaving over the kitchen sink, I started to wonder what was my favourite story from the series.
Two titles sprang to mind, both from the second volume, ‘A Taste of Life and Love in Australia’.
Probably, the story I most enjoy is ‘The Girl Next Door,’ which relates a young man’s interest and affection for his next door neighbour. Being somewhat afraid of rejection, he sadly stumbles, delaying till almost all is lost. If this synopsis has whetted your appetite, the last time I checked, the Amazon.com. web site for this title showed the story in its entirety. Incidentally, the tale is taken up again as the last in this book, and brought to some degree of resolution.
The other story I particularly like is ‘A Song For Ellie’, which ranks as one of Ron’s favourites, too. Also written from the point of view of the male character, this is another tale of love from afar, and the efforts made by the hero to attract the girl of his dreams. I understand you will need to get hold of a copy of this book to read it since it wasn’t included in the Amazon preview.
