Banksia

It’s lovely to walk (or drive) around our local park. Not only are all the beautiful native birds around, often nesting high in the gum-trees, but also the delightful Banksias are in flower.

I hope that you enjoy seeing this photo which was taken there.

I found this photograph in my files, taken some time ago in the local bushland park. It prominently shows a beautiful Banksia in abundant flower, and in the background, a delightful Wattle also in bloom.

Australian wildflowers must surely rank high on the list of beautiful plants.

Banksia: A Golden Wildflower

Banksia

Banksia Spinulosa

Australia is blessed with some delightful and unusual wildflowers. Among these are the Banksia.

There are many varieties, but this is one of the two main types that grow in our park.

It’s called Banksia Spinulosa. Since it flowers from April until September, we now face many months in which we may admire its beauty.

These are quite spectacular when fully out, especially when there are three or more flowers  in close proximity.

Enjoy!
