How Cute is This? Feathered Friends…

Feathered Friends

Feathered Friends

Whenever the Baby Animal Stall makes its appearance at the local fairs, I always head straight for it. I love so many baby animals. From lambs to kid goats to chickens to ducklings: they’re all delightful.

I hope you like this photo I took of some sweet feathered friends.

Oh, and by the way, this blog is ALMOST FULL, and I won’t be able to post here much more, so I’ve created two other blogs. Here are the links.

Ducklings

Duckling galore!

Not so many weeks ago, Ron and I attended a local festival. Not surprisingly, one of the most popular exhibits was the baby animal enclosure. Amongst the furry friends were groups of domestic farm birds: duckings and chickens.

Hardly surprising then that I snapped a photo or two of my favourites: baby ducklings.

Enjoy!

Going Home… Ducks and Ducklings

Heading for Home: Ducks and Ducklings

Heading for Home: Ducks and Ducklings

Fresh from their long paddle, this family of ducks is heading for home.

I wonder where it is? It isn’t in the local swimming baths: the place that they had ventured to!

The babies are strong swimmers and keep up well with their parents.

Lookout, World — Here We Come!

Lookout world, here we come!

This family of ducks is heading our way…

A rare sight in the river, and to my eyes a most welcome one.

I wonder how many of the brood make it to adulthood?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Watching Over the Brood

A day's outing

A day’s outing

Is there anything nicer than watching Mum and Dad out for the day with their brood of youngsters?

Unfortunately for me, this is a rare sight. Although fully-grown ducks quite often grace with their presence the local swimming baths, a family of fluffy ducklings scarcely ever accompanies them.

So, whenever this opportunity presents itself, I reach for my camera and snap madly away…

Duck and Ducklings

How can I resist posting this?

Baby birds and animals have a magical appeal.

Few more than ducklings, I believe, and what sweeter sight is there than a band of newcomers finding their way in life?

Family of Ducks

8 Feb

The joy of new life is wondrous. Whatever the species, infancy holds a special captivation.

One of my favourite sights is that of a brood of ducklings paddling along with its parents. It’s amazing, the speed that those tiny webbed feet can muster.

The rarity of my seeing this delightful interaction between parents and siblings of the feathered variety adds to my elation at being able to capture the moment on film.

The beauty of Australian nature is infinite.
