Plover and Sea-gull

I like to photograph the unusual. and it’s not every day that one sees a Masked Lapwing and a Silver Gull quite near each other on the beach by the river.

Silver Gulls are quite commonly found here, but the Masked Lapwings are a fairly rare sight. I guess that they have found the sands to be to their liking.

Enjoy this scene, on a river in Sydney, N.S.W., Australia.

What’s Going On?

What’s going on?

Is the Plover making a dignified retreat?

Is the Silver Gull surveying its territory?

On the river near where I live, the gulls seem to routinely take a dominant role.

A Plover on the Shore

12 Jan

A Plover on the shore: not a common sight in the local baths, and therefore well worthy of a photograph.

The Georges River and surrounds provides habit for a variety of birds. From tiny Swallows to huge Pelicans, there’s plenty to see.

Nevertheless, as they say, variety is the spice of life, and for my money the sight of a Plover is a welcome addition.
