Happy Father’s Day!

In Australia, tomorrow is Father’s Day, and I thought I’d get in early and wish all fathers a happy day.

Has the status of fathers changed since I was a child? In those days, Dad was the head of the house: the sole breadwinner, the one who controls the purse-strings for all the major purchase decisions.

Nowadays, with so many Mums working, perhaps these decisions are now made with equal input from each partner.  And why not?

At any rate, fathers seem to still occupy a unique position in modern households: their storehouse of masculine wisdom, strength , and love is surely worth saluting!
