It’s Wattle time, here in Sydney, Australia.
In truth, there are species of Wattle out where I live almost every month of the year, but right now, it’s more than normally plentiful.
Here’s a photo of one that grows near the Georges River.

Mists fascinate me, and none more than mists over water.
So peaceful…
Here is a photograph of just such as event, taken at our local baths on the Georges River in Sydney, Australia.

p.s Please watch for the announcement of the release of my latest novella!
Our little white dog Chicki loves her daily walk by the river, but the main attraction for her seems to be the exciting smells that linger here and there. But for me, possibly the greatest lure is the prospect of seeing first-hand, beautiful birds of many varieties.
One of the rarest and spectacular sights is that of a Pelican. Yesterday, I spotted one one the river. Unfortunately, though, there were some unfriendly water-birds around who chased it off, despite its larger size.
I hope you enjoy this photo of a Pelican in flight. Copyright ©
Going off at a tangent, there will soon be a brand new novella released : ‘Love Denied’. Fans of sweet romance set in post WW2 Australia, please take note (and tell your friends).
I wish I could send you its perfume… There’s nothing quite like the incredibly heady aroma that radiates from this spectacular plant. It reminds me of my childhood. A magnificent specimen grew in the front yard of my aunt, and as a child I would collect the fallen flowers (which still retained their charm) and place them in a shallow bowl of water, for use as a table decoration.
The plant we have growing in our front garden here came from my own childhood home, but there it grew simply in a large pot. Soon after we moved here, my parents planted it, and it’s thrived!

Here’s looking at you – a Rainbow Lorikeet
Rainbow Lorikeets are often seen in our local park, and those of us who keep a camera on hand find them hard to resist.
Their colours are so bright and varied- small wonder that their name reflects this.
They’re friendly, too, and I often see them nibbling at the tidbits willingly supplied by picnickers.
Enjoy!

On another note, three of my eBooks will be available as Countdown deals on Amazon Kindle over the next week or two.
‘Amelia’s Call’, the story of a couple of newlyweds who find that life has dealt them a difficult hand, will be on sale from 28th March till April 4.
‘Sisters and Rivals’, a tale of two sisters who are different as chalk and cheese, will be reduced in price from March 31 till April 7.
‘Whatever it Takes’, a love story that spans two…

The sight of cockatoos always draws my eye. How happy I was the day I spotted this handsome bird, a tasty green morsel in hand…
Sometimes they flock by the river where I swim. Other times, they chose more precarious spots such as by the roadside in the park. Fortunately there is a very low speed limit!
Enjoy!

P.S. Update on the Countdown deal of ‘Uncertain Love’. I’m delighted to say that seven copies were downloaded in the UK, and two in the US. This is the second-best result I’ve ever had! Huge thanks to all those who supported it!
It’s been unseasonably warm for Autumn here in Sydney, Australia, and what better way to cool off than splashing around in cool water…
This charming icon of Australian bird-life, the Laughing Kookaburra, is drying himself off after just such an experience in the little pool under the water bubbler in our local park.
In other news, my recently released title, ‘Uncertain Love’, has received its second review – this time from respected Goodreads librarian Marianne. And she liked it very much. _She’s also known as Cloggie Down Under). As luck would have it, this title is also right now a Countdown deal in the US and UK. Please spread the word, and help it make its very first sale!

The Flannel Flowers that grow in the local bushland park are still in bloom, and brighten the day for those who see them. They seem to particularly thrive beside the roadside – a bonus for those who travel through. With a speed limit of twenty kilometres an hour, there’s opportunity to see them, and reason to pause…

One of my very favourite Australian native trees is now in flower! I’m speaking of the West Australian Red-flowering Gum.
Although Sydney, N.S.W., is not their original home, these delightful plants have adapted perfectly to this environment, and right now there is a wonderful assortment of colours (all in shades of red) in flower.
Here is one of the brightest, growing in a garden near to our home.
Enjoy!

Proud, strong and handsome, a Kookaburra perches on a tree in our local park. Luckily for all, it’s a reserve devoted to native vegetation, birds, reptiles and so on. The perfect home for our iconic, featured friend.
